Mayeux and Broussard | Episode 7

  • December 31, 2013

Hola podcast fans. We present to you Episode 7 of lesfire featuring Mayeux and Broussard. This particular podcast features explicit language and adult oriented themes that may not be suitable for those who are uncomfortable with transvestism, Dr. Suess books, or the inner-workings of the service industry.

Mayeux and Broussard with the lesfire teamMayeux and Broussard centers around the singer-songwriter duo of Tate Mayeux (pronounced “MY-YOU”) and Brian Broussard. Formed in 2011, they have since hit the alt-country scene here in Texas with a vengeance. With a weekly schedule that averages 3 or 4 shows, they are more often than not playing in Austin’s most legendary venues. Their debut album “While The Gittin’s Good,” released in November 2012, showcases a particular brand of Texas country that combines the distinct raspiness of Tate’s voice with a side of Brian’s artfully crafted blues riffs to equal one impressive prize fighting champion of a sound.

In this episode, we find out how Antone’s nightclub inspired Brian to pick up guitar, what transvestism and reading Dr. Seuss books have to do with Tate losing out on a movie role playing Arlo Guthrie, and finally, why being a hair stylist and working in a Vietnamese restaurant are surprisingly good gigs for musicians.
